Good books and ebooks make the best gift ideas for mom whether they are cookbooks, self-help books, non-fiction books, or religious books. Moms who read will always appreciate getting good books or ebooks on their birthday, Mother’s Day, Christmas, and any other special occasion. So, if your mom or a mom you are thinking of giving a gift to happens to love books, a good gift for that mom would be JD Robb’s first book in her Eve Dallas series: Naked in Death.
Why is this a good gift for mom?
First of all, let me give you the book’s description. It’s a romantic suspense story based on a lieutenant in the New York police named Eve Dallas. The story is set in 2058 and a lot of the things in the story are futuristic like Autochefs, robots, and flying to different planets for vacation. But none of these are too farfetched for the reader. Also, the story is too enthralling for you to get bogged down in the details. For JD Robb’s first book, she introduces to us her heroine who is a strong woman with a horrific past and who chooses to use that to get justice for those who are murdered. In Naked in Death, Eve takes a case where she’s after a serial killer and while in pursuit, she happens to become attracted to one of her prime suspects, Roarke.
The story itself is very intriguing and exciting to read which makes this a really exceptionally good gift for mom. But the murder mystery and the romance isn’t the only thing that the book has going. The characters are well-thought out and develop really well throughout the story. The dialogue is witty and in some cases, downright comical. While the subject is very dramatic and there are points in the story where you will feel emotionally wrung out, there’s always a part where that tension is released through a funny conversation between two characters.
I’d love to write more about the story but I might end up giving too much away. Suffice to say, this is a must have in anyone’s library. So if you’re looking for great gift ideas for mom, you definitely should put this book on your list. It’s not only a good gift for mom… I’m pretty sure it’ll be a great gift to give yourself too

Have you ever considered buying romance books as a gift for mom? It may seem strange to you… more so if you’re a guy. But moms do read and plenty of them read romance novels. Why romance novels, you might wonder. Well, the practical reasons are that there are really a lot of them in bookstores, there are various genres within this type of book available such as paranormal romance as well as historical romance, and romance novels aren’t as expensive as a trip to the spa or jewelry or perfume. But the reasons why these would make such great gifts for mom are:
• Happily Ever After – what woman can resist a successful ending to a story? It’s always great to read about a couple overcoming all those problems and finding their way together.
• The Heroine – everyone has dreams of being someone else, of wanting to be stronger, etc. Heroines in romance books are often those women we admire and secretly want to be. Your mom will love reading about women who are as strong as she is and who have overcome many things to get the man she loves and the life she wants to live.
• The Hero – why wouldn’t your mom have a great time reading about men whom they could easily fall in love with? The heroes of romance novels are dashing, sweet, handsome, romantic, all the things you wish for in a man and make you sigh.
• Escape – we all love to find time to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Moms are no different. They may be consumed with stress from household chores, family matters, and work. By reading these books, moms get to escape from their troubles for a while and entertain themselves with the magic of falling in love. This kind of escape is your real gift for mom.
• Variety – as I said before, romance novels have many different kinds of genre within. With so many types to choose from, you will surely be able to find one that fits your mom to a T.

Best Fudge Brownie
While there are plenty of the usual gifts for mothers like bath salts and printable coupons, every once in a while freshly baked goodies just hit the right spot. And one of the best homemade gifts you can give her is rocky road fudge. This is the best fudge brownie I have ever tasted and any chocoholic mothers out there will absolutely love getting this gift. It even has a simple fudge recipe that anyone can easily follow.
Fudge Ingredients:
50ml Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur
200g chopped dark chocolate
20g butter, unsalted
1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
50g chopped unsalted pistachio kernels
75g crushed shortbread biscuits
200g small-sized marshmallows
150g chopped white chocolate
Making Rocky Road Fudge:
Get an 8cmx20cm bar pan and grease it. Place baking paper inside with some overhanging. Put the dark chocolate, butter, milk, and Baileys in a bowl that’s heatproof and place the bowl over a pan of water that’s simmering. Make sure the bowl doesn’t touch the water. Once the ingredients melt, gently stir them together until the mixture becomes smooth. Take the bowl out of the pan and let the mixture cool down a bit. Put in the nuts, marshmallow, and 2/3 of the white chocolate in the bowl and stir them together. Spread the mixture into the pan and leave it in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours until it becomes firm. Melt the remaining white chocolate similarly and pour it over the fudge. Let is set for 3-4 minutes then cut the fudge into squares.
This Rocky Road fudge will need to be placed in a container that’s airtight and consumed within a week. The simple fudge recipe can create 12 slices of chocolatey goodness for any mother to enjoy. To add to the gift, you can give the recipe of the rocky road fudge printed on some fancy paper so the recipient can make the brownies anytime she needs a chocolatey fix. She can even change some of the fudge ingredients to make the fudge more to her liking!

A Great Gift Idea
What woman doesn’t use a body scrub? It’s not only a beauty essential, it also helps one relax and ease out the stress. But instead of buying a sugar body scrub from the mall, a great gift idea is to make homemade body scrub. Not only will it be a gift that is much appreciated, the personal touch will add to its value.
Sugar Scrub Recipe:
To make a body scrub, you wouldn’t need to buy a lot of stuff. Most of the ingredients will be found within your kitchen. For the sugar body scrub, you’ll need the following:
1 cup of fine brown sugar
1/3 cup of sweet almond oil
20 drops of vanilla essential oil OR 1 tsp of vanilla essence
Now, homemade body scrub is really easy to make. Mix the sugar and essential oil in a bowl thoroughly. Stir in the almond oil slowly until the mixture’s consistency is that of moist sand. That’s it! Homemade body scrub ready to be used!
After you make the body scrub, you will need to place it in an airtight glass jar with a wide mouth. You can wrap a small ribbon around the lip of the jar and even decorate the jar using stickers, magic pens, etc. For an additional gift, write down the sugar scrub recipe on some parchment paper and attach it to the jar using a ribbon. Then, your mother will be able to create her own homemade body scrub whenever she needs it!
Added Tips:
Make sure you advise the recipient to use the body scrub within 6 months so that they avoid the possibility of the oil becoming rancid. Also, you can change the fragrance of the body scrub or even find out what essential oil combination is best for her skin and use that combination instead. For information on this, you can go to this website.

Gifts for Expecting Mothers
The usual gifts for expecting mothers are baby clothes, toys, baby bottles, and other baby stuff that we usually think they’ll need once the baby comes. And those are all great. I got a lot of those when I was pregnant and I really appreciated them because they lessened the amount of stuff that I needed to buy. But recently, I found this really great product that I believe any expecting mother should have: the Baby Bargains book. And let me tell you why…

Every new parent will tell you that having a baby is very costly. It will burn money right through your pockets. And this very high cost can be extremely stressful, especially for parents who are just starting out. But with this Baby Bargains book, this high cost can be lowered to a much more reasonable amount. Well, slightly reasonable at least and it won’t have you staying awake at night just dreading how you’ll pay for all the things that your baby will need.
What the Baby Bargains book can do:
This book is the best guide for expecting mothers when it comes to finding out what items they really need and what they can forgo until much later. It tells you what the cheap baby stuff are and where you can buy them. And the cheap baby stuff that the book recommends isn’t a collection of products that are of extremely low quality. You’ll definitely get good value for your money without worrying over your baby’s safety or the need to buy a new one again later on. The Baby Bargains book also has a great deal of baby product reviews which, let me just say, I could have really benefited from had I read this book before I had my baby girl. These reviews will tell you which products are poorly made, not child-safe, and even about the history of the manufacturers.
In addition to telling you a great deal about how to be cost-efficient and giving out baby product reviews, you’ll also get a handful of advice about child-proofing your home and some rules on buying stuff. I must say, the Baby Bargains book is really something that any expecting mother would benefit from. So go buy one for all the expecting mothers you know.

Gifts for the In-Laws
Let’s face it. Finding the perfect gifts for the in-laws can be such a trying endeavor. It’s hardly surprising that many of us married people feel so stressed out whenever gift-giving holidays or birthdays come up. Particularly when it comes to finding the perfect gift for HER. I mean, I love my mother-in-law and all that but buying her a gift can really take a toll on me. That is until I found this really fun (and funny list) of the best gifts for Mother-In-Laws.
Perfect gift ideas for your MIL:
• The Book of General Ignorance: Everything You Think You Know Is Wrong – this is really the best gifts for mother-in-laws who think they know everything. She might find herself too caught up fighting with the ideas in the book to annoy you
• Any gift wrapped in a shopping bag from a high-end store – the perfect gift for her if she is very conscious about brands. You don’t have to actually buy something from the store, just get a bag from it and put your gift in the bag. She won’t know the difference!
• Jesus Bandages – this is the perfect gift idea for MILs who are seriously devoted to their religion. Not only are they useful, she will have no hesitations in sporting one of these.
• The Complete Manual of Things That Might Kill You: A Guide to Self-Diagnosis for Hypochondriacs by Knock Knock Books – the best gifts for mother-in-laws who are always feeling sick or poorly are books that can help them find out exactly what is wrong with them. To top it off, you wouldn’t have to listen to her guess or ask you about it since she already has the book!
• One year magazine subscription – everyone has a favorite magazine, whether it’s a gossip rag or Good Housekeeping. For those who truly want to get the best gifts for mother-in-laws, you might want to consider this.
• Personalized photo gifts – MILs always love pictures of their grandkids. And this would be the perfect gift to remind her why she tolerates you so much
A mug, throws, or a quilt made up of pictures of your kids will surely please her to no end.
Some of these best gifts for mother-in-laws are really funny and may not be suitable for YOUR MIL. But if she has a great sense of humor, you may want to try one of them just for laughs

Gift Ideas for Mom
Sometimes, finding gifts for mothers can be hard. There are lots of different gift ideas for mom out there to choose from including spa packages, home-cooked meals, and a cleaned house. But as a new parent, I’ve found that one of the best gifts I ever received was a book full of parenting tips. Having a baby around takes up a lot of your time, money, and to be honest, your sanity. But with some really handy parenting tips, you can get through all those difficulties and enjoy having a baby around more. Mama’s Big Book of Little Lifesavers by Kerry Colburn is definitely one of the best gifts for moms (and even dads) out there.
Why is it a great gift for mom?
While there are plenty of parenting books that you can buy, this book is really a great gift for any parent because all the tips for saving time, money, and sanity are here in one book. And they don’t come from just one person. The author not only presents her parenting tips but also those from other veteran parents that have survived the challenging times of raising kids. Their hard-won techniques all incorporated in one book makes it one of the best parenting books ever.
While advice for parents is normally thrown at you from every direction, it is generally about feeding, potty training, and discipline. But with Mama’s book, you also get some parenting tips that just help smoothen out your day. Things like saving time going to the bedroom for a nappy change or using baskets to transport things like blankets, diapers, and toys up and down 2 floors are stuff you rarely get from other parenting books. And following these tips have definitely helped me save some time and sanity. As a new parent, I was sometimes faced with the questions ‘which one should I do first?’ and ‘how in the *** am I going to carry all those plus the baby up the stairs?’ Kerry’s parenting tips were definitely lifesavers for me, keeping me sane day after day.
One of the best things I found about this book was that it was really easy to read. It’s basically just a list of what to do and how to do to it. There are no long paragraphs that I really did not have time to read with my hectic schedule. The tips are arranged according to time, money, and sanity as well as a quick help guide if you don’t have time to browse through the tips, looking for the ones you need.
This great book is full of advice for parents old and new, something any mom would surely appreciate and love.

For a new mother, I’ve found that one of the best things you can give is a book that tells all about the hardships of motherhood and what they can expect. And while there are plenty of great books for moms out there, I’ve found one that really is the best gift for a mother who wants to know more about the deal with parenting. It’s The Parent Trip by Jenna McCarthy. Yes, this funny, extremely talented woman has written a tell-all book about becoming pregnant and the perils of parenthood. And I say it’s the best gift for a mother at any point in her life. Most especially for a new mother who still has no idea what to expect. So if you’re thinking looking around for gift ideas for a mother, you might want to put this at the top of your list.
Why is this “the best gift for a mother”?
I have decided to dub this book as such because it really is that good. I mean, Jenna McCarthy does not pull her punches. You get to read all about how difficult pregnancy can be, how hard parenting is, and even just choosing a sitter for your kids can be a challenge. And she is able to write it in such a hilarious way that you’ll enjoy reading the book while you learn! She’s brutally honest but still witty and full of wisdom that any mother who reads her book will just keep laughing while nodding her head in recognition and agreement.
When I read this book, I couldn’t put it down. It was that greatly written. I laughed so hard at her wit but was still able to relate on how difficult it was transitioning from a single person to a mom. I found myself thinking that I wasn’t alone in having doubts about parenting and thinking “Yes! Exactly!” when she discussed how she suddenly saw all the “dangers” in the world as soon as she left the hospital with her newly born baby.
What I really loved about this book is that it’s different from all the great books for moms that I’ve read. While it definitely holds nothing back in terms of the difficulty of parenting, it teaches you how to handle different situations with tips while you enjoy yourself. For a new mother, you’ll get to see what warrants a trip to the doctor and what doesn’t, what every nursing mother needs to know, and whole lots more.
This really is the best gift for a mother at any point in her motherhood. You’ll learn, you’ll laugh, and you’ll cry. Best of all, you’ll love the fact that you’re a mom. Gift ideas for a mother? The Parent Trip is the only gift you’ll need.

It’s always hard to think of gifts for mom. While there are plenty of ideas everywhere on gifts for her, what you might not know is that some of those gifts that stores promote are actually the worsts gifts for mom. Here’s a list of the worst mother’s day gifts or even birthday gifts that you can give your mom and why they should be written off your gift idea list:
• Household appliances – while you may have heard your mother complaining about how her vacuum cleaner isn’t working anymore, it doesn’t mean that it would be a great gift for her. Giving her a household appliance will only remind her of all the housework that she needs to do or that she’s already done. Instead, you may want to do her chores and give her a bit of rest and relaxation as a gift.
• World’s Best Mom – gifts such as mugs, cards, and t-shirts that have these 3 words printed on them actually make the worst mother’s day gifts. While the thought is definitely appreciated, giving your mom something like this only shows her how little thought you put in to buying her a gift. Try putting a little more effort whenever you buy gifts for mom. After all, she’s put a lot of effort in raising you, right?
• Little Coupon Books – coupons promising the receiver a “free carwash” or “cooked dinner” from the giver are the worst gifts to give anyone for any occasion. A lot of these coupon books can be found in cutesy novelty stores. These will probably never be used, tucked away in a drawer and forgotten. And they will also tell your mother that you didn’t bother even thinking about what to give her.
• Spanx – while most women would love to wear Spanx because it can make their figures sexier and more flattering, they really wouldn’t love to get one as a gift. It’s almost like you’re saying they’re fat. And you wouldn’t want to be the son or daughter who does that.
• Kitchen stuff – things for the kitchen are really practical gifts for mom, I’m sure. But they actually aren’t great gifts because they only serve to remind your mother of how much she slaves away in front of the stove all day, every day.
• Lingerie – let’s face it. Giving your mom sexy underwear or sleepwear can be creepy. It’s only a great gift if you were married to her. So don’t even go there.

We love chocolate
All mothers love chocolate and it’s something that certainly soothes our souls. It certainly makes me feel good to drink some hot chocolate whenever it’s cold outside. And if you want to make a gift for mom this Christmas, one of the best things you can give her is homemade hot chocolate in a jar. Homemade gifts for mom are always a winner and most times, they turn out to be the best gifts for mom. So for any of you who are looking for a way to create this simple, hot chocolate in a jar, here’s how:
Making Hot Chocolate in a Jar:
To make a gift for mom like this, you’ll need a nice, clean jar, some hot cocoa mix, little marshmallows, a Hershey kiss candy, a candy cane, a cute scrap of fabric about 4 inches or larger, a nice ribbon, some craft glue, and a pair of scissors.
Put the hot cocoa mix in the jar and add the marshmallows until you fill the whole jar. Place the cover on the jar and close it tightly. Cut the cloth into a circle that’s 4-inches in width. Then get a piece of ribbon that’s around 12 inches in length. Place the cloth on top of the jar and tie the ribbon around the edge of the lid. Tie the candy cane on the ribbon before making a bow with it. Glue the Hershey kiss candy on the center of the cloth.
To make it the best gift for mom, add a little note telling her to drink the hot cocoa whenever she feels stressed or tired and just wants to relax. Add some instructions telling her to put the Hershey kiss in her hot chocolate and to stir it with the candy cane.
Homemade gifts for mom
A hot chocolate in a jar is simple and easy to make. It wouldn’t even cost a lot of money. But all moms love to get gifts that are made from the heart rather than store-bought. It shows caring, appreciation, and a whole lot of thought. So, go ahead and make your mom’s Christmas a little bit brighter this year with some hot chocolate!
